Trollbloods in the Journeyman League

So my LGS is running a Journeyman League starting today.  Below is the bulk of the models I have gathered and plan on painting for the league.  In addition to this I will be picking up 2 units of Longriders, 2 war wagons, and a Mountain King.

Missing from the pics are the extreme Mauler, and Jarl Skuld.  Six weeks to paint it all...
We'll see.

So as a gamer I end up with a lot of miniatures. I happen to play a number of different games and therefore deal with a few different companies.  A couple weeks back I picked up a Hordes Trollblood Swamp Troll online for my budding WarmaHordes faction and when it arrived is was missing a number of parts, damn near all of them.  I used the easy replacement form on PP's web page and ended up only getting one of the arms I was missing. I submitted the following email to them to clarify what was occurring.  The picture below is what I received in the mail along with the correct replacement parts.

This is the correct way, in my opinion, to handle an issue. No blame game, no 'please submit 27 copies of every form you find' crap, just a little note and the parts.  In fact, it kinda made me laugh. Privateer Press has continuously surprised me at their level of commitment to their game, their fans, and supporting a strong product through coherent rules and community interaction.  Please keep up the great work guys.  You have made a fan for life.

I rarely do WIP photos but I figured I would throw some up. (Ha! Regurgitation)

First up is the Dire Troll Mauler Extreme sculpt from PP. This model is amazing! Not to mention in a pinch you could club a home intruder with it.
This is the final after airbrushing, Next I have to chalk and wash him which will tone down the white-ness quite a bit.

Next is Gorman Di Wulfe, SonOfABitch. I hate him and so do you!  This is a model for a buddy's Khador army. I lost a bet and have to paint him.  Going to do some source lighting on the vials around the waist.  Wish me luck.

Next is the Old Man of the Gnarls, Hoarluk Doomshaper, Shaman of the Gnarls.  I absolutely love this model as well.  Going for a lot of muted, foresty browns without washing it all out to a poo color.

This troll is a librarian's nightmare.  Really needs a Dewey decimal system for all those scrolls.

Lastly we have Vowels McConsonants, none other than the pointy ear, Sylys Wyshnalyrr.  This is a commission for a Cygnar/Khador player.

So that's what is on the table for this week.  I also have a bunch of Sedition Wars figs I am doing on another commission.  They will be in a different update.  See you soon and keep up the painting!

More X-Wing minis

So clearly I have become addicted to these miniatures and the game itself.  I sat down with the Lambda and started removing the brush marks in the factory wash with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol.  After that I added some weathering to give it a worn feel.  I also added some oil weathering to the Lambda, Falcon and Slave-1 then airbrushed the engines.  I am extremely happy with the look of the engines. Three TIE Interceptors from the 181st now complement my standard TIE's.  I currently have 7 standard TIE's with 2 more incoming via mail, these will be broken in to 3 squadrons of three fighters each (Blue, Blood and Ghost squadrons).  I want to pick up two more of the TIE bombers to complete a squadron.  After all this is completed I will start getting the cursed Rebel Alliance fighters painted.  Till next time!

I picked up a box set of the X-Wing Miniatures game from Fantasy Flight games and could not resist adding some custom paint.  This is good fun!
