The Badab War grows!

My group is on to Phase II of the Badab War campaign from Imperial Armour 9 and 10. I figuredI would post up some of our results, both as a play aid for the group but also as a synopses for what has been done so far. The rules are used exactly as presented in the campaign section of Imperial Armour 9. The players are only allowed armies from Codex: Space Marines, Codex:Blood Angels (Lamenters), Codex: Chaos Space Marines, and Codex: Imperial Guard. Of course, all items in Imperial Armour books are also allowed but must be represented by the FW model or a suitable conversion.

Firstly, the group.

Secessionists:
Austin - Mantis Warriors
Christian - Red Corsairs Pirates (Chaos Warband)
Dave - Lamenters (BA)

Loyalists:
Ken - Charcharodons
Mark - Red Scorpions
Myself - Howling Griffons

Phase I: Shadows of War
Ken Vs. Dave - Boarding Action; Loyalist Victory +3CP
Christian Vs. Ken - Boarding Action; Forces of Ruin Victory +0CP
Dave Vs. Christian - Boarding Action; Secessionist Victory +1CP
Me Vs. Austin - Loyalist Victory +1CP
Dave Vs. Mark - Secessionist Victory +1CP
Bellerophon's Fall 4-way game - Secessionist Victory +4CP

Phase I Final Scores:
Secessionists 6CP
Loyalists 4CP

The Secessionists have won Phase I and get the "Corsair Traffic" special rule. From this point on Secessionist players get to re-roll the scatter distance of deep strikers in Phases 2, 3, and 4. Also, we added Mark to the group so Christian's Chaos army went from a Forces of Ruin to a Secessionist army. We decided for fluff purposes, which is the point of campaign, that Christian's army represents the Red Corsair's prior to their takeover by Lugft Huron.

Phase II: Tide of Destruction
Dave Vs. Ken - Secessionist Victory +2CP
Dave Vs. Mark - Secessionist Victory +2CP

So that is the current state of affairs. I will continue posting the results of our war. Enjoy!

Sternguard done!

Honored Sergeant Tiberius Balen of the 1st Co., 3rd Sternguard Squad

These models took me almost three weeks to finish because of various interruptions throughout the process. Finally, they are completed.

The Grind

So now that the yellow is done on the Griffons it is on to the quartering. Bleh!
20 Tactical marines and 2 more termies...
Sternguard squad is quartered.
Close up of a beaky Sternguard.
"Things! Things are happening over there!"

At the time of this post I have only 10 more tac marines to quarter. Once the quartering is in place I can highlight the red and put on the final yellow highlight. I always find the base coloring to be the most tedious of the painting process. I much prefer the detail work, as intensive as it is it seems to hold my attention better. I will probably paint them in blocks of 5 at a time in order to not go crazy. See you in a bit!

Space Sharks...I mean Carcharodons!

So one of my buddies in the Badab War campaign, Ken Wasson, is doing the Carcharodons Chapter. I am putting the pics up here to display some of his impressive work. Enjoy!

Progress on the painting desk!

So with the ideas fresh in my melon here is the Chapter Master Regio Venator (Pedro Kantor for those keeping track on the home game.)

Above is Codicier Maxamillian Stark with kung-fu magnet hand grip!
And lastly, a Canis Wolfborn I am painting for a client.

So I bought a new digital camera and have been toying with it. The pics in this post are from the new Canon. Hope you enjoy! Picked up the Griffons Landspeeder and the Vindicator. More pics with them as soon as the quartering is done. Also, going through the steps to put a red LED in my Crusader. I get tired of painting the interior for no reason, so adding a little light will make it pop in my eyes.

As if I didn't have enough crap to do...

So with the drop of the FW 9:Badab War, I decided to run the campaign from the books. This ballooned better than I had assumed with ppl coming out of the woodwork to join in the ladder campaign. So with the campaign in mind I settled on the Howling Griffons chapter; I used the quartering pattern out of the SM Codex as opposed to the pattern from the Badab book. The patterns are the reverse of one another and I am unclear if it is a mistake on FW's part, or some intended alternative scheme.
This plus a Vindicator = 2k pts, and some hrs of painting.

Codex Astartes approved Night Livery paint scheme. The Howling Griffons being fresh from a previous deployment on a night world. (The FLUFF!)
Regio and the Codicier Librarian Maxamillian Stark. I drilled out his wrist and mounted a magnet so I can swap out the Storm Shield for the spell-flingy hand just because I like it. The list is below.
